Auto Accidents
‘Tis the season…Auto Accidents are quite common this time of year. If you or anyone you know is involved in even a “non-injury” accident, take the time to be seen by a professional!
Did you know?
Statistically more people are injured in low speed collisions (less than 10 mph) than in high speed collisions (over 10 mph).
TRUE. And often times they don’t feel the effects of the traumatized tissues until years later. Of course, by then, insurance won’t cover anything!
Soft tissue injuries are not as bad as broken bones.
FALSE. Soft tissue injuries are worse! Especially since they are often missed or overlooked by the injured individual or the ER doctor. They do not show up on x-ray and the individual may say, “I will be okay in a couple of days.” A few days later they feel fine. Years later they have major scar tissue, joint degeneration and loss of joint motion. Now it is a permanent problem but could have easily been avoided.
Auto Accidents are the leading cause of TEEN DEATHS in the USA.
TRUE. More teens and cars are on the roads in America than any other country. We make it easy and affordable for individuals to drive young. This combination of mental / physical maturity with distractions such as - cell phones, radios, fast food, friends, and make-up - then throw Utah weather conditions in the mix and it can be especially troublesome for our kids. Think Safety.
Thus it is the season for me to be lecturing in the schools. I love to share with the driver’s education classes how to be safer on the roads. How their body is affected by physics during even a low speed collision. Finally, how to prevent major health problems by seeing a specialist after any collisions, high speed or low speed.
Maybe I will see one of your kids in class this year.
